Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees acts in a
custodian capacity providing
direction and oversight to Diya’s
working. Specifically, the board
develops strategic goals, reviews
management performance, sets annual
targets, and liaises with the donor
community to enhance visibility and
report performance of the
organization.

Afaq Khan, Chairman |
Afaq
Khan is currently the
Chairman of Board of
Trustees of Diya and member
of the Management Team. Afaq
is a banker by profession,
and serves as chief
executive of Standard
Chartered Saadiq, the global
Islamic banking arm of SCB.
Afaq is a member of several
high profile professional
bodies including Islamic
Finance Advisory Council of
DIFC, International Islamic
Financial Market, and
Islamic Finance Expert
Group, UK. Afaq is based in
UAE. |

Mohammad Haroon,
Trustee |
Mohammed
Haroon is a banker by
profession with more than 42
years experience in
international banking. He
serves as Advisor and
Secretary to the Board of
Directors of United Gulf
Bank in Bahrain. Mohammed
previously served as Acting
CEO of UGB, up to March
2010, and is a director in a
number of group companies at
UGB. |

Saleem
Asghar Ali is a renowned
businessman and
philanthropist based in
Bahrain. He is the founder
and chairman of Asgharali &
Sons, a diversified business
group headquartered in
Bahrain and with interests
in Pakistan and across
Middle East. |

Irfan
Siddiqui is the founder
chief executive of Meezan
Bank, Pakistan. He is a
Fellow of the Institute of
Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales, and a
seasoned banker by
profession. He has served in
various executive positions
internationally including
with Kuwait Investment
Authority, Abu Dhabi
Investment Authority and
Coopers and Lybrand, UK. |

profession across Middle

Tariq
Sadiq is Senior Partner with
Ernst and Young, Middle
East. He is a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered
Accountants in England and
Wales. For 30 years, Tariq
led the Bahrain Office of
Ernst and Young, before
assuming a regional role for
Middle East and North Africa
region in 2010. |

Shafi is a Partner of the
Middle East firm of Ernst &
Young. He is a Fellow of the

Accountants in England and
Wales. Nadeem is the
designated Treasury Audit

Middle East and also heads
the Banking Audit Group in
Kuwait. |

Khalid Qureshi
President |
Dr Khalid A.R. Qureshi is
the President of Diya
Pakistan. Dr Khalid has been
associated with the
organization since its
establishment in 1988 and
has the overall
responsibility for its day
to day operations. Dr Khalid
was a practicing physician
until some years ago when he
decided to devote all his
energy and time to the cause
of Diya. He is based in
Rawalpindi. |

Aftab Ahmed
Vice President
Operation |
Diya Pakistan is fortunate
to have the voluntary
services of Brig (R) Aftab
Ahmad as member of its
Management Team. Brig. (R)
Aftab joined Diya in
September 2008 and since
then has provided visionary
guidance to build a
result-oriented
organization. As Vice
President Operations, Brig.
(R) Aftab takes a hands-on
approach to overseeing all
aspects of its working. |

Mohammad
Director Finance (Vol) |
Gul Mohammad is member of
the Management Team with the
overall responsibility of
the finance function,
including coordinating the
annual external audit. Gul
is a Fellow of the Institute
of Chartered Accountants of
Pakistan, and until 2007
served with Ernst and Young
Kuwait. He is currently
associated as Advisor with
Ernst and Young Pakistan.

Nazim
Director Planning |
Ashar Nazim is member of the
Management Team with the
overall responsibility for
strategy design and for
coordinating the annual fund
raising campaign. Ashar is a
Certified Public Accountant
and Director with Ernst and
Young. He is based in

Kamran Rizvi
Manager
Operations |
Kamran Rizvi joined Diya in
May 2009 and has been
assisting the senior
management in planning,
coordination and execution
of Diya’s scholarship
disbursement programmes.
Kamran is also responsible
for developing,
documentation and automation
of the operational
processes. |
