Pakistan has been hit with one of
the worst floods in its history –
some 12 million people are badly
affected, more than the combined
total of Tsunami, Kashmir Earthquake
and Haiti Earthquake – according to
the UN.
People are looking for credible
organizations that have the
resources to help desperate flood
victims, and Diya has taken up this
challenge. Diya has directed its
on-the-ground team in Pakistan to
reach out to flood victims with
every possible help, while Trustees
and volunteers mobilize support
internationally.
Following programs have been
launched:
1)
Basic Food & Utensils
Package includes - Flour 20 kg, Rice 5 kg, Sugar 5 kg,
3 types of Daals 2 kg each, Rooh
Afza 1 Bottle, Baisan 3 kg, Tea 0.5
kg, Dry Milk 2 kg, Salt 1 kg, Red
Chilli Powder 1 kg, Haldi 1 Pao, 1
Matchbox, 1 Tawa, 1 Medium Size
Cooking Pot, 2 Steel
Glasses, 1 Plastic Bucket, 2
Mugs.
2) Water
Purification Units
Bulk quantity to be purchased and
shipped to worst affected areas and
relief camps. Average cost USD 25
per unit.
3)
Airlifting Aid to Remote Areas
Coordinating with Pak Air Force to
airlift food packages from Karachi
and Jacobabad to be delivered to
worst affected areas.
4)
Corporate Support Program
International corporates have been
approached in Middle East to
participate in building emergency
relief centers, rebuild schools and
work with local Chamber of Commerce
and Bankers to promote small
business entrepreneurship. All this
reconstruction to be done in an
environmental friendly manner. |
